Students Enjoy Gardening

Our on-campus student garden is thriving!

Our on-campus organic garden is thriving with loving attention from Angie Brenner and Ray Bernard who have rebuilt the aging garden beds, added rich compost and guided the students during gardening time every Friday afternoon.  The students are now harvesting fresh lettuce, snow peas, kale and other greens for our lunch program.

iPads Enhance Learning

Kindergarteners are joyfully learning their letters and writing illustrated stories with iPads.

In addition, upper grade students each have their own Macbook to use for writing, research and creative projects.  All students use the engaging online learning program Compass Learning Odyssey to supplement instruction.

Shakespeare Comes Alive

Our 20th Shakespeare production, The Tempest, wil be performed on March 29, 30, and 31st, 2016.

Each year students from all classes participate in this rich learning experience.  Wednesday night is a dinner theater.  Guests are treated to a fabulous meal followed by the performance. The dinner theater is the main fundraiser for the Spencer Valley Educational Association, Inc. that underwrites the production costs and other enrichment programs at the school. There are two additional performance-only nights. In April, the students travel to Balboa Park in San Diego to attend in the annual Shakespeare Festival. Last year they were awarded Best Scene in the Elementary/Junior High division!      View slideshow.

Courtyard Pond

Students explore the courtyard pond

Home to our pond critters, our courtyard pond is a joy for students and visitors. The courtyard and waterfall was designed by local artist James Hubbell and built by parents and community volunteers in 1987 when the additions to the school were being completed. The waterfall and rock work was built by the late Dick White and the sundial was created by James Hubbell.
